INTER club Matches. IT was a busy weekend last with two matches taking place at Castledargan last Saturday. First up was our Jimmy Bruen team captained by Dave Donavan. With 3 matches away it was always going to be tough and so it proved with Enniscrone Winning the tie to progress in the competition. Well done to captain Dave and his team of Fergal McLoughlin, Benny Deignan, Kevin Conlon, Niall Kearns, Micheal Flynn, Peter Carr, James Fallon, Chris Kilcullen, Gerald Tailly and Dave Donavan. Next up at home was our National 4ball inter club team captained by Niall Walsh in the zone final against the Connaght champions in the competition, Carrick on Shannon. First up at home was the pair of Tony Wasyalocha and Martin Burke followed by Paul McGonigle and Alan Martin and last out was Alan Taffee and Andy Kearns. Away in Carrick Paul Mullen and Eugene Carroll were first out with Donal McLoughlin and Adrian McGoldrick after them. Scores were mixed in the early stages at home with Tony/ Martin 1down after 4 Paul/ Alan 1up after 4 but Alan/ Andy took command early on going 4up. Away things were going well with Paul/ Eugene a/ s through 8 and Donal/ Adrian 1up through 6. Back home Tony/ Martin turned things around going 1up through 11 and were still 1up through 14 but things went the other way for Paul/ Alan going 2down after 13. Away things were getting tough as well with both matches going down Paul/ Eugene 3down after 13 and Donal/ Adrian 1down after 12. At home The pair of Alan/ Andy steadied the ship to register the first point for the team winning their match 6/ 5. Next up at home Tony/ Martin won 15 and 16 to win their match 3and2. Away Paul/ Eugene despite been 3 down took their match down 18 before the home pair took the point. A great effort from Paul and Eugene against the all Ireland semi finalists on their own turf. In the other away match Donal/ Adrain won 13 and 14 to go from 1down to 1up and carried that to the 18th tee. At home Paul/ Alan also turned their match around Winning 14 and 15 to go all square on the 16 tee but word filtered through the Donal and Alan finished their match 1up which gave Castledargan the 3 points to win the tie 3 1/ 2- 1 1/ 2.
