KENYA FUNDRAISER

The recent Homegrown for Kenya fundraisin­g house concert organised by Rita Normanly and Pat McCarrick raised just over € 2,100. The funds have now been forwarded to Kenya and work on completing the furnishing of the new school has already commenced. Rita and Pat would like to issue their sincere thanks to everyone who supported the fundraiser.

MAYO’S MEN’S SHED

As part of Men s Health Week 2017 ( June 12 to June 18) the Health and Wellbeing department within HSE have teamed up with Mayo Men s Sheds to provide a free NCT for all men in the community. The Charlestow­n event will take place on Friday, June 16, at the CBD Complex, old Swinford Road, from 10 a. m. to one p m.

A wide variety of organisati­ons and agencies will be present to provide men with relevant informatio­n and interactiv­e tools to encourage them to engage in positive behaviours in relation to their health and overall wellbeing. The Irish Heart Foundation will also be present to conduct health screening; this is free of charge to all men on the day. A large attendance is expected from the community.

PARISH LUNCH

On Sunday, June 18, in the Coach House, Rathbarron, a Parish Lunch will take place, with four sittings – midday, 1 p. m., 2 p. m. and 3 p. m. Adults € 15, Students € 10, children under € 5. To book contact Deb at 071 9189680 between 6 p. m. and 10 p. m. All proceeds in aid of Parish Fund.

WOMEN’S GROUP

Looking for some crafty time? Why not come and join the Tubbercurr­y Women’s Group. We meet every Wednesday from 5.30 p. m. till 8.30 p. m. at the community room at the Tubbercurr­y library. We’ll be delighted to see you.

CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE

There is a facilitate­d Cancer Support Group on the First Wednesday of every month from 8.10 p. m. at 53 Ard Aisling, Tubbercurr­y, and a facilitate­d Bereavemen­t Support Group ( for anyone who has lost an immediate family member to cancer) on the last Tuesday of every month 8.10 p. m. in the centre.

The centre relies totally on the generosity of everyone who continues to organise fundraisin­g events and those who give donations. We are eternally grateful and never cease to be amazed at how this selfless generosity continues throughout these difficult trying times. This Centre is not about cancer, it is about recovery.

MEDJUGORJE

Led by Spiritual Director, Fr Martin Jennings, our pilgrimage to Medjugorje takes place from September 27 to October 4. Return flights from Knock, including full religious programme and return airport transfers to Medjugorje. Half board accommodat­ion provided in a private house. SLIGO ROSE

An evening in honour of Lisa Maloney ( Cloonacool), our beautiful Sligo Rose and Clodagh Gavigan, her Rosebud, has been planned for Friday, June 16, at 8.15 p. m. in Cloonacool Community Centre. It will be a relaxed social evening with refreshmen­ts and a chance to meet Lisa and Clodagh. There will be a bucket on the night, if people wish to contribute to Lisa’s campaign. All our welcome.

CLOONACOOL CARDS

The Cloonacool Card Game takes place at 9 p. m. each Monday evening in Cloonacool Community Centre.

GREENWAY CYCLE

A Bike Week cycle is being organised for Saturday, June 17, at 3 p. m. in Coolaney. The event has two routes; one of 5km and one of 15km. The organisers are Sligo Greenway Co- op and Cafe Fia and is supported by Sligo County Council. Start and finish point is Cafe Fia at Coolaney Community Centre.
