The Sligo Champion

Raymond takes over U14s

-

KEITH Raymond, one of Sligo’s finest hurlers to put on the black and white of Sligo is now turning his hand at management. The group of youngsters to avail of his knowledge of the game and his skill are the Sligo u14 hurlers. Last Friday saw the first outing for the young hurlers. They travelled to the Connacht centre of excellence in Bekan ( Mayo) for the first hurling blitz of the year. Sligo had three games on the night. On a wet and windy night in June the young hurlers improved in each game they played. Sligo had great support on the night. The county was well represented from five clubs on the night with more players still to join the panel in the coming weeks as they prepare for the All Ireland blitz at the end of August. Some special mentions to some fine individual performances goes to Rory Kinane and Evan Ballintine who were steady at the back with Nathan McArdle strong at mid field and Adrian Walsh posing treats in attack. Keith has surrounded himself with two top men on his management team in Michael Larkin and Eolan McCartey. Sligo has three clubs heading away to feile this weekend, wishing Benbulben Gaels, Naomh Eoin and Tourlestrane the very best of luck.
