-

A man described by Judge Kevin Kilrane as being “highly dangerous at this present time” was released on bail to allow him undergo a treatment programme. Chris Keaney of Glendallon Park is charged with damaging a car belonging to Tonia Cox at Stephen Street on June 3rd last. He is also charged with having a screwdriver and with contravening a barring order. Garda Dermot O’Connor gave evidence of arresting the defendant at Clarion Road. Defending solicitor, Mr. Tom MacSharry said the defendant, who appeared in court with facial injuries, had been assaulted and wasn’t a well man either physically or psychologically. He was on his way to Cuan Mhuire in Galway when he was arrested. Judge Kilrane said he was granting bail “with a lot of reluctance” because of his mental health but that he must go to Cuan Mhuire. He was confirmed to be there at Ballyshannon Court the next day and the case was put back for mention on Thursday in Sligo
