HE is one of country music’s most successful stories, and Nathan Carter is just one of the faces responsible for the revival of country music in recent years.

Indeed, the Liverpudlian is so popular, particularly in Ireland, that he is getting set to record another series of ‘ The Nathan Carter Show’, and once again has chosen to record it in Sligo.

He was in Sligo last summer too to record the series, with numerous special guests such as Una Healy, Westlife’s Markus Feehily and comedian Al Porter.

Although the 27- year- old has not yet been told who the special guests are at the time of writing, he does know that Sligo native Shane Filan has been confirmed to perform at the show.

The show takes place over four nights in Sligo, starting on Wednesday ( tomorrow) and continuing until Saturday night.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing the new series of the Nathan Carter Show to Sligo,” he told The Sligo Champion.

“We’ll have some big names, I don’t know them yet but I’m sure I will soon.

“RTE haven’t told me the names just yet. Shane Filan has been confirmed which will be brilliant because he’s obviously a Sligo man. We’ve never performed together actually so that will be good,” he stated.

Nathan says that his audiences are in for a great night. Sligo was a venue he was keen to record in, and he says RTE were on the same page.

“We will have different genres, trad, country, rock and lots more. Audiences are in for a great show.

“People get to see how a television show is mad. There will be stops after every performance so people at the show will really be involved.

“We were the ones who really pushed for it to be recorded in IT Sligo again because we have done a few shows there and it is just a really good venue,” he added.

“The last series was filmed in Sligo as well, I think RTE wanted it somewhere outside of Dublin and they liked IT Sligo as a location.”

It is likely it will be autumn before the recordings are shown on RTE. The national broadcaster’s desire to showcase country music on such a platform has helped to increase the popularity of country music, says Carter himself.

“People will probably get to see themselves on television, we don’t know yet when it will be on but I guess it will be sometime later in the year.

“Country music has got extremely popular. At gigs we see people of all ages, children right up to grandparents. RTE has been a big help, they have introduced shows like this one.

“Television shows like Nashville too have helped broaden the whole thing.”
