NO MORE TICKET MASTER IN SLIGO

- By PAUL DEERING

It’s the end of an era for the moment at least as a Sligo business ends its relationship with an online ticket sales company.

Liber bookshop on O’Connell Street was the scene of many a queue over the past ten years by eager concert goers, mainly young people, snapping up tickets as early as they could but as and from the end of June it won’t be carrying the Ticketmaster franchise anymore.

Owner Brian Caliendo told The Sligo Champion said the only events in future they would be handling would be local ones such as Sligo Live.

He explained that as the ticket sales business evolved they were getting less and less tickets to sell on the morning they were due to go on sale.

“Pre sales was the main reason we are giving up the franchise. We just couldn’t get the same volume of tickets anymore and naturally this left a lot of disappointed people outside our premises on the mornings they went on sale,” said Brian.
