Woman stole four pairs of baby shoes from store

A 19- year- old woman who stole four pairs of baby shoes from Mothercare, Cleveragh Retail Park had her case adjourned to October to allow her come up with € 200 in a fine.

Mary Bernadette McDonagh of The Big Isle, Manorcunni­ngham admitted the theft of the shoes worth € 81.96 on November 12th 2016.

Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said Gardaí went to the store following the report of a theft and the defendant was passenger in a car which was stopped on leaving the car park at Cleveragh. It was searched and the defendant admitted to stealing the shoes. She previously received a caution for theft in Letterkenn­y in January 2016.

Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor ( defending) pleaded he had a long talk with the defendant and her mother and explained the court’s attitude to petty larceny. McDonagh told the court she was sorry. The case was put back to October 12th to allow her pay € 200 in a fine. He said the question of a driving ban would also be considered then as a car had been used in the theft.
