Could Terry scoop mum of the year?
A well known Sligo mum Terry Golden is in the running for the title of Mum of the year 2017.
The CF campaigner is among just 15 finalists chosen from hundreds of nominations in the Women’s Way competition. Terri Golden ( 56) from Cartron was delighted with the news.
It’s been a difficult year for Terri, losing youngest daughter Gráinne to Cystic Fibrosis. Her wish was for her mum and sister, Aisling, to continue campaigning for access for lifesaving drug Orkambi for CF patients and to have an opt- out system for organ donation. Terri has appeared in local and national media raise awareness and in April this year, Simon Harris committed to funding for Orkambi.
“That will be Grainne’s legacy, not just Grainne, other CF campaigners. Loads of other people that have died campaigning,” Terri says.
“It’s not just about our family, it is about Grainne’s legacy but it is about what she wanted for her own CF friends. That they would have a chance in life.”
