Rovers’ summer camps return as kids are in for a football feast

-

THE summer is here so that means one thing, the Sligo Rovers Summer Camps are about to begin. The Camps are starting this coming Monday, July 3rd, with kids around the Northwest region extremely excited about all of the activities and games that await them over the next eight weeks.

The camps are taking place in the Showgrounds for eight weeks in total running from Monday until August 25th. Once again the Sligo Champion is delighted to be sponsoring the camps which have grown from strength to strength in recent years.

The cost of the camps remained capped, which leaves the Sligo Rovers camps as one of the best valued camps in the region. The price of the camp is € 55 for one child, € 90 for two children and € 120 for three children from the same family. Each week the camp runs from 10.30am- 3pm, Monday to Friday.

This year sees the introduction of an optional breakfast club to the camp, which begins at 8.30am each morning. The idea behind the breakfast club is not only to accommodate the working parents and arranging of lifts, but it’s also to teach the kids the importance of diet.

They will learn about having good a good nutritional balance in their food intake in order to maximise their performance on the football field.

A full range of indoor activities are also organised for the breakfast club which will be supervised at all times.

The breakfast club costs an additional € 25 per week. Last year, the camps were enjoyed immensely by everyone who attended and that positivity carried through to the Easter Camps which achieved record numbers back in April.

Therefore it is highly recommended that anybody considering doing the camp contact the offices of the Showgrounds in the coming days to ensure your slot on the Sligo Rovers Summer camps are secured.

Shane Crossan, head of the Sligo Rovers camps expressed his delight at the Sligo Champion sponsoring the event once again.

He said: “Having the Sligo Champion sponsor the Summer Camps is something that I and everyone at Sligo Rovers are extremely proud and grateful for. “Their support to the club as a whole is invaluable and we are really looking forward to them calling into the camps throughout the Summer to see all of the kids enjoying themselves.”

Sligo Rovers manager, Gerard Lyttle who was at the launch of the camps in the Showgrounds also added: “I would like to personally thank everyone at the Sligo Champion for their sponsorship of the Summer Camps. Having them on board is fantastic for the club as a whole. Shane has put a huge amount of work into the camps and I’m sure they will be a fantastic success. I’m very much looking forward to meeting each and every kid that enrols on the Sligo Rovers Summer Camps.”

John Feerick, Managing Director of the Sligo Champion, said the paper was delighted to be involved once again in sponsoring the camps.

“These camps have become hugely popular over the years and the Sligo Champion is delighted to sponsor such well- run camps, which provide top class activities for children on their summer holidays and of course keeping them active. We look forward to another successful eight weeks of camps this summer and thanks to Shane and everyone at Sligo Rovers for facilitating them.” The Sligo Champion will be doing a pictorial supplement during the course of the summer camps so keep an eye out when they hit the shelves.
