Call for smokey coal nationwide ban after complaints in Sligo town

SLIGO County Council has agreed to write to Climate Change Minister Denis Naughten to implement a nationwide ban on smokey coal. It was prompted by Cllr Marie Casserly who said it would help many people with respiratory problems.

Cllr Declan Bree said he had been getting complaints: “It would appear that there a fair bit of non-smokey coal being sold here.”
