No extra dust bins for Doorly Park

-

THERE are no plans at present to provide additional litter bins in the vicinity of the new North West Hospice and Irish Kidney Association seating at Doorly Park.

Senior Executive Enginer, Brian Flynn told Cllr Gino O’Boyle at a meeting of Sligo Municipal District that there were adequate bins in the area already.

However, he undertook to keep an eye on the area to see if extra bins were warranted.

In response to another motion from Cllr O’Boyle, Mr Flynn said it wasn’t possible to lower the height of the footpath at the GPO at Fish Quay.

Mr Flynn said there was a chamber, the size of a sitting room, underneath the footpath which housed telecommunication infrastructure from the old exchange and it wasn’t possible to lower the path directly above it.

However, he said it was possible for the matter to be looked at in terms of the planned O’Connell Street refurbishment works which were due to be undertaken when Irish Water completed its works.
