Intoxicated woman told to leave Garda station three times

-

A mother of two entered Sligo Garda Station in an intoxicated condition and became verbally abusive.

Clodagh Carney (29) of Garavogue Villas called into the Garda Station in Sligo on June 10 th last to make a complaint about an unknown person, said Inspector Donal Sweeney.

He told the court that the defendant was intoxicated and was told to come back the next day when she was sober.

Three times she was asked to leave but she refused to do so.

However, the defendant became verbally abusive and there were a number of people in the public office at the time, said the Inspector.

The defendant told the Garda at the desk: “All ye do is help these foreigners and do nothing for me.

“You’re not even a real guard. Now f **k off and get me a real guard.”

Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor (defending) said the defendant had been doing well but had ‘ broke out’ on the day.

She did return to the Garda Station the next day but to apologise for her behaviour.

Mr Mullaney said the defendant’s social worker was satisfied that it was a once-off aberration .

Judge Kevin Kilrane said the defendant had ongoing issues and he was going to put back the case for monitoring to October 26 th.

He also wished for the defendant to have €200 in court on that occasion as a fine which would be imposed on the intoxication charge.

“I don’t want to hear from you again,” he told the defendant.

The defendant told the court: “I’ve no problem with foreign nationals.

!I don’t know where that came from.” “Alcohol I suppose” - Judge Kilrane.
