Ballinlig pupils record single for children’s hospice

-

A West Sligo school will be raising funds for charity with their new single.

The children of Ballinlig N.S. in Beltra have chosen the LauraLynn Foundation.

One parent writes: When my kids ask me ’why do we have to go to school’ my reply is always the same. ‘You go to school to feel good about yourself through learning’.

Ballinlig N.S. teaches you just that. Between the sporting range of gaelic/soccer/ basketball/handball, it’s hard to imagine there is any time for growing strawberries; onions and spuds in the garden or even taking the time to organise a cycle to clean local beaches or exercising their scientific inquiry skills studying robotics awareness using lego, yet it all happens under the guidance of Patrick Patten and Patricia Finnegan on an average day in Ballinlig N.S.

But most importantly and the main reason for this article, is to highlight the fact that Ballinlig N.S, which only has 26 children in the school, managed to design, produce and record a charity album which features junior infants to 6 th class singing five enchanting songs (two as gaelige), in the hope of raising funds for Ireland’s Childrens’s Hospice (the LauraLynn foundation which provides palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions).

The local community have been fantastic in helping to sell the album to family and friends but there are still a few left, so if you feel you’re able to buy one for only €10 please text or call 0870683629 and we’ ll meet you wherever you are.

We would also like to say a huge thanks to the Sligo Rose Lisa Maloney from all at Ballinlig N.S. for coming to the school to help promote the album. Find us on Facebook at Ballinlig National School Sligo.
