Parkrun for all abilities this July

ORGANISERS of the popular Parkrun event are encouragin­g people of all abilities to take part in the next outing which is on July 8th.

The HSE, Healthy Ireland, Special Olympics Connaught, Sligo Parkrun and the Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnershi­p are all joining together to organise and celebrate Sligo’s first ever ‘Parkrun All Abilities Day’ .

The event will promote Parkrun and encourage all participan­ts of varying abilities to come along and participat­e on the day.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5km walk, run, jog or even you can volunteer on the day.

The event is suitable for all ages and all abilities whether you’re young or old, male or female, fit or unfit, able-bodied or not, you’re all welcome to take part on the day.

For ‘Parkrun All Abilities Day’ organisers are encouragin­g all Special Olympic participan­ts, potential Special Olympic participan­ts and all individual­s of varying abilities to come along and join them on the day.

The Parkrun all abilities day will take place on Saturday the 8th of July at the usual Parkrun time of 9.30am in Doorly Park. All you have to do is register for free online at www.parkrun.ie/register/

Refreshmen­ts will be served after the event in Doorly Park for all the participan­ts.
