FIRST GAME

The first ever official game to be played in Glencar/Manorhamilton’s new football pitch at Boggaun took place recently when Glencar/Manor faced Mohill in a Dunne’s Bar Leitrim All-County League Division One League fixture.

At the end, following a cracking of football, both sides finished level on a 0 – 15 all score line. A large crowd of between 250 and 300 supporters, who attended the game, got good value for their money, such was the quality of the football served up by Glencar/Manor and Mohill.

The new Glencar/Manorhamilton pitch looked resplendent for this historic occasion in the scenic shadow of O’Donnell Rock. The game marked a special moment for Gaelic games in the local area.

Glencar/Manor had at last a pitch of their own to play on; something no other GAA Club in the local area’s history had the luxury of since the foundation of the GAA in Hayes Hotel Thurles in 1884.

Mohill’s Keith Beirne had the honour of scoring the first ever point at the new Boggaun pitch in the game and Glencar/Manor’s Brian McDonald had the honour of scoring his Club’s first ever Boggaun point on the occasion.
