LOTTO DRAW

The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Paddy’s Bar on Saturday, June 24, for a jackpot of €7,800. The numbers drawn were 5, 21, 27 and 29.There was no winner. The next draw for a jackpot of €7,900 will be held on Saturday, July 1, in Shivnan’s Bar. The winners of €20 each were Ant, Dec + Laura Cunnane, Geevagh; Irene Kearns, Geevagh; Ciara, Pat, Kathleen and Pádraig, c/o Paddy’s; Liam Maye, Geevagh and Thomas O’Donnell, South Boston.

HOSPICE WALK

There was a big turnout for the Geevagh Hospice Walk which was held on Tuesday evening last. It was a warm pleasant evening and just about enough of a breeze to keep the dreaded midges away. After the walk, there was a welcome cuppa and lots of home baking which was very generously donated.

This event provides much needed funding for North West Hospice but is also a great social occasion. As donations are still coming in, there isn’t a total figure available. The local support group wish to sincerely thank all who took part, provided food and helped out on the evening.

CHARITY CYCLE

The annual charity cycle will be held on Saturday, August 12, There will be more details available over the coming weeks.

MASS SCHEDULE CHANGED

The Sligo stages rally will be holding some of its stages in this area on the weekend of July 8/9. In order to facilitate the closing of some roads, the Mass schedule has been changed. On Saturday evening, July 8, the vigil Mass will be in Highwood at 8 p.m. On Sunday morning, there will be Mass in Geevagh at 10.45 a.m. only. There will be no other Mass offered in either Church.

RAFFLE WINNERS

The raffle in aid of ‘ Spray it don’t paint it project’ for Geevagh NS took place on Tuesday last before the summer holidays began. The winner of the first prize was Katie Davey, who won €500. Oisin Cullinan got the second prize of a hamper and the third prize went to Martin Tansey, also a hamper. There were two sellers prizes of a tablet and a Connacht Gold voucher and these went to Daragh Mastin and Olivia McDermott.

The organising committee are very grateful to all their sponsors for their generosity and to all who bought tickets. Well done to all the schoolchil­dren who played a major part in the ticket selling.
