FOOTBALL COMPETITION – The County Sligo Community Games under-10 Mixed Football competition took place recently at various venues throughout the breadth of the county. A total of 15 teams made up of boys and girls over seven and under-10 contested for a county title and an opportunity to represent Sligo in the Connacht finals. Castleconnor had a good run in the competition before eventually going out in the semi-final to Curry after a closely fought game.

The first game was away to Riverstown and despite the persistent rain, the team came away with a 2-6 v 5-7 win. Castleconnor came up against Drumcliffe in the next round and steadily improving as they went along won easily at home 9-12 v 4-4. The semi-final in Curry was a closely fought battle with each side taking the lead on numerous occasions. In the end Curry got two goals in the last few minutes, to go through on a scoreline of 6-5 v 4-6. It was a great effort by the whole panel and they were a credit to their parish and club.

Castleconnor Community Games committee would like to thank all those who supported the team over the three games. A special word of thanks to the team Managers: Eamonn Cawley, Ollie Sexton and Rosario Flynn.
