CAIRDE VISUAL

Cairde Sligo Arts Festival’s fourth annual open submission exhibition, Cairde Visual, opens on Thursday July 6th at The Model. This year’s show boasts talent from Irish and Internatio­nal artists across a great diversity of media with over 100 pieces from 87 artists on display. The show will feature a range of paintings and drawings, sculpture, film, photograph­y and installati­on.

MICHAEL COLEMAN STORY

This very special performanc­e tells the story of the world- renowned fiddle player Michael Coleman (18911945). This performanc­e brings to life the personalit­y and music of the 20th century’s most gifted and influentia­l traditiona­l musician. The Michael Coleman Story will run on Wednesday 5th July, Aug 2nd and Aug 23, show starts at 8.30pm at the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen.

NATIONAL YOUTH ORCHESTRA

Rock School at the Glens Centre in Manorhamil­ton is running this week with Dee Armstrong from Kila at the Glens Centre in Manorhamil­ton. For young people ages 10 to 18 with a minimum playing experience of a year. The Rock School Gig will be on at 8pm on the 7th July. Everyone is welcome.

Join the 105-strong National Youth Orchestra of Ireland on it’s Wild Atlantic Way Tour 2017 this summer. They will be coming to the Knocknarea Arena tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7.30pm. 24-year old Venezuelan-American Ilyich Rivas will conduct the orchestra for the first time as they perform Ravel’s La Valse and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 in B major.

SLIGO STAGES RALLY

The Sligo Stages Rally takes place on Sunday (July 9th). The event is a counting round of three premier series , the Triton National , the Sligo Pallets Border and the Top Part West Coast Rally Championsh­ips. The FAAC Simply Automatic / Sligo Park Hotel Sligo Stages Rally is sure to draw a huge crowd, starting at the Sligo Park Hotel from 8am.

SUMMER SUP SERIES

Irish band ‘The Rockets’ come to 5th on Teeling on Saturday (July 8th). The Rockets was the coming together of musicians from the East, Midlands and West of the country. They have been playing at weddings and gigs all around the country for some years now.

Six weeks Standup Paddle series on Thursday evenings or best evening of the week from 6.30 to 8.30 pm fun nights of paddling, skills clinics, touring fun, also new monster sup and fun races. Starting on Thursday (July 6th) but if that does not suit you can go on any other evening.
