IT Sligo receives funding for apprentice­ship programmes

Fine Gael T.D. and Assistant Whip, Tony McLoughlin has announced that € 578,277 in funding has been allocated to IT Sligo today for capital investment works in order to enable it to increase it s apprentice­ship capacit y. This is par t of an allocation over € 8m for 10 Institutes of Technology across the countr y announced this morning by the Fine Gael led Government.

I T Sligo will enable it to purchase new machiner y and equipment and to carr y out enabling works for the implementa­tion of new programmes and for the developmen­t of new Electrical apprentice­ships in the college.

“This announceme­nt comes on the back of a separate positive announceme­nt for St. Angela’s College, l ast week which received € 350,000 in Government funding in order to enable the College increase it s Home Economics classes capacit y.

“I think that both these announceme­nts show the Government’s commitment­s towards improving the educationa­l options available to people in this regions as well as showing that Sligo and the Northwest region in general are the focus of their attention.”
