Man charged with having ¤6k cocaine for sale or supply

-

AN asylum seeker from Globe House has been arrested and accused of having ¤6,000 of cocaine for sale or supply when he was living as a student in Dublin six years ago.

Mohamed Dulloo (37) never turned up in court in Dublin in April 2012 to face the cocaine charges because he had returned to his native Mauritius from 2012-2014.

A bench warrant was issued for his arrest in 2012 after he failed to appear in court.

Inspector Paul Kilcoyne told Judge Kevin Kilrane that Dulloo has been living in Globe House in Sligo since June 2016.

The outstanding bench warrant for his arrest only came to light when Dulloo came to Garda attention on another matter.

Mr John Anderson told the court that Dulloo told him that a Garda “said he could go home to Mauritius” in 2012.

He returned to Ireland in 2014 to seek asylum, claiming that his life would be “in grave danger if he returned to Mauritius.”

“I didn’t know that this case is still moving,” Dulloo told Judge Kilrane.

“I’m staying in Globe House. We can’t move. We have shelter there,” he said.

The defendant told Inspector Kilcoyne that when he was living in Firhouse, Tallaght in 2011/12 he was resident in Ireland on a student visa.

He claimed his passport was lost and insisted he had no travel documents on him. He told Inspector Kilcoyne he has been seeking asylum for the past year.

He said he was living on ¤19.10 a week and could not afford the train ticket to Dublin.

Judge Kilrane remanded Dulloo on ¤300 bail to appear before Court 4 of the Courts of Criminal Justice, Parkgate Street in Dublin yesterday (Monday) 10 th of July.
