Bare-chested man was looking for a fight
A Tubbercurry man has claimed he was bare-chested and looking for a fight in Ballymote last month because his wife left him.
John Ward (38) of Parklands, Tubbercurry, was found bare-chested, highly intoxicated and aggressive by Gardaí at Cloonkeavy, Ballymote on June 17 th, with “his attention focussed on one man”.
Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said a crowd of “20 other people were at the scene” and Ward was asked to leave the area, with Gardaí offering him a lift to Tubbercurry.
Ward put his shirt back on, but took it off again, trying to start a fight before he strayed out on the main road and had to be pepper sprayed by Gardaí.
Mr Gerard McGovern said the fatherof-three had since reunited with his wife and was apologetic about the incident.
Judge Kilrane remanded Ward on bail to October 5 th and said a ¤300 fine must be in court that day. If Ward re-offends he’s “almost certainly going to prison.”
