Ballygawley road will be surveyed

-

THE Council has agreed to inspect the Ballygawley to Ballintogher road after Councillor Thomas Healy raised subsidence concerns.

He tabled a motion calling on the Council to carry out a survey of the R290 between Ballygawley and Ballintogher as parts of this road are subsiding and to make funding available to carry out the necessary remedial works.

“Recently road users have become extremely concerned particularly with the section of road there as there is evidence of serious subsidence on the road,” he told members.

He called for an urgent inspection by the Roads Department to determine the extent of damage and in the event of remedial works being necessary, to prioritise funding for them.

Council official Tom Brennan replied that a survey can be carried out but if any works are needed they will have to wait until next year for funding under the 2018 Road Works Scheme.
