Ciara Mulrooney Recalibrate Sligo Injury Clinic Strandhill
A CHILDHOOD spent outdoors and attending various sports sparked an interest in injuries; why they happen, how we can recover and what causes pain. To learn more, having worked as a massage therapist and sailor, I completed a BSc in Athletic Therapy. A four-year full time musculoskeletal based degree encompassing all the elements surrounding injury treatment and rehabilitation in DCU, including sports nutrition, psychology, injury rehabilitation and working with international standard athletes and county GAA players.
Recently I moved home to Sligo with my son, Phil. City life was great but Sligo offers brilliant opportunities for him to grow up outdoors beside the sea and allows me the opportunity to run my own business. I set up Recalibrate, a private clinic, in Strandhill to help people live without pain, fear or restriction. We have some much going on these days pain can be a major inconvenience.
My aim is to ensure people can enjoy the activities they want to, be it gardening, cycling or hurling. I do this by listening to each individual story, figuring out what may be causing the problem, educating the client on their pain and movement, building a treatment programme with them to reach their goals and finally supporting them an individual to remain pain free into the future. I’m dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives so pain isn’ t a worry for them. Exercise and movement are key components to a happy healthy life and the more time we can spend moving pain free the more enjoyment we can gain from life.
With summer here it’s a perfect time to tr y a new sport or get active and if you’ve any queries regarding an injury or getting started I’m more than happy to help.
