COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratula­tions to Riverstown’s under-14 skittles team who took gold at the recent Connacht finals. The team was Patrick Barrett, Shane Dwyer, Conor McMorrow, Keith Merrick, Jamie Parke and Matthew Parke.

The second team to take Gold at the Connacht finals is the under-12 Skittles team. The team was Jack Barrett, Jack Brehony, Oisin Conlon, Seán Kelly and Steven Smith.

And finally the Indoor soccer also took home gold from the Connacht finals. This team was George Barlow, Brian Dwyer, Owen Elding, James Foley, Ciaran Kenny, Niall Kenny, Ryan Parke and Sam Tuohy.

A huge achievemen­t for the team and their coaches who all worked extremely hard. Best of luck to them all as they head to the national finals in August.

CEMETERY MASS

There will be a Cemetery Mass held in Ballyrush graveyard on the Bank Holiday Monday, August 7, at midday

GARDEN FÊTE

A huge thank you to all those who supported the recent Garden Fête in aid of Taunagh Parish church in the Cooper Memorial Hall. Thank you to all who helped out on the day with cooking, stalls, sponsored walk and games for children. The day was a huge success.

MORRISON FESTIVAL

The James Morrison Traditiona­l Music Festival will run from Friday, August 4, to Monday, August 7, commemorat­ing the musical genius of Sligo’s James Morrison and his contempora­ries. On Friday evening the festival will be officially opened by Labhrás Ó’Murchú, in Morrison Teach Ceoil at 7.30 p.m., followed by the James Morrison Commemorat­ive Concert in the Community Hall.

On Saturday, there will be storytelli­ng workshop through drama and puppetry with Tori Lee and Paul Gibson from the Brouhaha Drama Club in the Morrison Teach Ceoil from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. At 1 p.m. the John Callaghan Memorial sean nós Dancing Competitio­n takes place in Riverstown Community Hall. At 6 p.m. there will be a musical tribute at the James Morrison Memorial in Drumfin followed by commemorat­ive address given by Marie Walsh at 8 p.m. in the Teach Ceoil. Singing Session led by Caitríona Ní Cheannabhá­in in John Mac’s Pub at 7.30 p.m., followed by a ceili on the Diamond, at 10 p.m. with music by Marshy Ridge céilí Band.

Sunday will start with Aifreann na Féile 12.30 p.m. There will be an afternoon céilí on the Diamond from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For the children a temporary tattoos session with John and Lucy. At 7 p.m. there will be a symposium in the Morrison Teach Ceoil honouring the life and times of Pádraig Scanlon.

COOKERY CAMP

Little Buddies will be running a cookery summer camp (Sweet and Savoury) for children aged four years to 12 years. Dates currently available are Monday, July 17, to Friday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registrati­on forms can be got and must be returned to Little Buddies. Price €75.
