Rally for life attracts many protestors

-

Dear Editor,

There are three kinds of lies; lies, damned lies and statistics. Whether it was American humorist Mark Twain, British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, or some other, is of little importance here.

With regard to the promised forthcoming referendum on the 8th amendment to our constitution, the lies and damned lies peddled by the ‘Pro Choice” protesters at the ‘Rally for Life’ last Saturday (1/7/17) were on their placards; ‘Your body, your life, your choice.’

They choose to ignore the body, life and choice of unborn babies. Perhaps it would be more accurate if they called themselves ‘Pro Abortion.’

The World Health Organisation and The Department of Health in England and Wales have nothing to win or lose in publishing their statistics. The former tells us that 40-50 million babies are aborted worldwide every year.

If one googles ‘real time count of worldwide,’ the reality cannot fail to shock and horrify. The latter tells us that over 8 million babies have been aborted in England and Wales since the 1967 Act, which legalized abortion. A very lucrative business indeed! 70,000 people took part in the ‘Rally for Life’ last weekend.

The veracity of their placards is not up for debate: ‘ABORTION STOPS A BEATING HEART.’ Yours Sincerely Sinéad Tracey, Leitrim Village.
