Benbulben Night Walk fun
SLIGO LEITRIM MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM ANNUAL NIGHT WALK 2017
Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team’s annual fundraiser walk to Benbulben went ahead last Saturday night, fundraising a much needed ¤3,000 for their equipment.
The mist was low on the mountain which meant the first group were walking up into the clouds at about 7pm.
What was extraordinary about the first group was that two of the walkers Ide and Clara, who had travelled from Limerick, were 75 and 82 years old respectively.
They were well staffed with extra help from Donegal and North West Mountain Rescue who were able to create a satellite group with them and allocate four guides to help get them up and down safely.
Walkers were rewarded with a cloud clearance at the trig where Sligo in all it’s majesty was revealed and a spectacular sunset followed.
The Sligo Leitrim Team thank Oxfield Committee, Super Valu, Call of the Wild , Furey’s Coaches, North West and Donegal MR and all volunteers who made the event safe and fun for all.
