THE Bowling clubs in Sligo continue to roll with the summer competitions in full swing.

Last week saw the home club SARA take on Ballymote in St. Joseph’s Hall Ballytivnan.

It was an impressive win for the home team.

As is usual nine matches were played, SARA ( Sligo Active Retirement Association ) won 6 and the remaining three were drawn.

The indoor club has gone from strength to strength over the past year with new players showing up each week and getting involved from the word go with three mats in use at all times.

Maureen Meehan of the SARA club said: “We are looking forward to travelling to Ballybofey later on in the year followed by Westport and then Salthill.”

It was a big occasion for lawn bowls in Sligo at the weekend.

The launch of the Sligo Lawn Bowls club in Cleveragh took place.

“This is the only outdoor bowling green in Connaught and we welcomed all bowling enthusiasts and anyone interested in giving bowls a try,” Maureen added.

New players are always welcome so why not come along.

The club meets every Saturday morning from 10:30am until 12noon, on Tuesdays from 7-9pm and Thursdays also from 7-9pm.

This facility is part of the Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership East City Community Sports Hub programme.
