Tourlestrane meet Calry
TOURLESTRANE played host to Calry/St Joseph’s in the Senior League on Sunday. With all county players back in action, both sides could play with their full teams. The weather was perfect for this one, as Calry looked to upset the county champions.
Calry looked as though they were going to do just that, with a goal from Darragh Cummins within 30 seconds of the throw in. Tourlestrane took four minutes to respond to this setback, as Pat Harte levelled the game, slotting his shot past Aidan Devaney in the Calry net.
Tourlestrane kept the scoreboard ticking, with points from players Conan Marren, Brian Egan and Liam Gaughan. Damien O’Boyle and Darragh Cummins scored points for Calry to keep them within distance of the home side.
Tourlestrane began to pull away and gained a 7 point lead.
The half-time score, was Tourlestrane 1-10 Calry 1-3.
The second half began as the first ended, with Tourlestrane keeping their scoring up.
Substitutes such Aaron Murtagh and Cathal Henry were introduced and took scores very well.
Tourlestrane looked very impressive at the back, with players including Adrian McIntyre, Diarmuid Dunne and Gary Gaughan carrying the ball very well.
The O’Boyle’s in midfield for Calry played strong roles, although they did have their hands full with John Kelly and Stephen Henry.
Devaney made some good saves for Calry to keep Tourlestrane from scoring only the one goal, as too did his opposite number Padraig McVeigh.
The final Score was Tourlestrane 1-18 Calry 1-6.
