FOLLOWING the success of the Innisfree Wheelers Autumn Sportive last year, the second Sportive in associatio­n with the Sligo Champion and Skoda Sligo is taking place on September 2nd.

There are three routes 60km, 100km and a 140 km. It is a sportive for all abilities from novice right up to expert.

The 100km and 140 km will offer some challenges for the more experience­d rider and the 60km route for beginners or those looking for a slightly less strenuous day in the saddle.

The three routes will take you through counties Sligo and Leitrim.

This event will be fun sociable and you will see some beautiful scenery as you pedal.

On line entry for Cycling Ireland members is €20 for non-cycling Ireland members €25.

Entry on the morning of the event is €25 for cycling Ireland members and €30 for non-cycling Ireland members.

Closing date for on-line entries is Wednesday August 30th.

The event starts and finishes at the Clayton Hotel. Food and refreshmen­t stops will be provided along all the routes along with medical and mechanical support.

Cycling has become one of the fastest growing sports in Ireland over the last number of years.

The majority of people are leisure cyclists so if you have recently taken up cycling or have been cycling for a numbers of years there is a route to suit everyone.

Over the next few weeks you this section will provide some hints and tips on getting ready for the Autumn sportive. So put September 2nd in you diary and get pedalling .
