Parkrun in Doorly Park
PARKRUN ALL ABILITIES DAY IN DOORLY PARK. PICS: CARL BRENNAN.
A unique Parkrun for all abilities was held in Doorly Park recently and it was a good success with the summer sunshine adding to the occasion.
This was Sligo’s first Parkrun All Abilities Day and it was organised by the HSE, Healthy Ireland, Special Olympics Connaught, Sligo Parkrun and the Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership.
The event encouraged all participants of varying abilities to come along and participate on the day.
Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5km walk, run, jog and people can volunteer on the day. For Parkrun All Abilities Day, the organisers were encouraging all individuals of varying abilities to come along and join them on the day.
Organisers said they were delighted with how the event went and look forward to more similar runs in the future.
For more information on Parkrun, you can visit their website on www.parkrun.ie. They regularly take place in Doorly Park.
