LAVINS OUTFITTERS AND CURRIDS PHARMACY CELEBRATE 60 YEARS AND 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS

TWO businesses that stand side by side in Lord Edward St, Ballymote are this week celebratin­g 60 and 10 years in business. Lavins Outfitters, run by John Lavin celebrates 60 years and Currids Pharmacy run by Shane Currid are 10 years in business.

Both of those are family owned businesses and it is a tribute to their dedication and commitment that they now celebrate this wonderful occasion.

Establishe­d in 1957, Lavins Outfitters Ballymote has stood the test of time. It serves customers from a large area of Sligo and the surroundin­g Counties, catering for teenage boys up to senior gentlemen. They also run a very successful wedding department and cater for up to 150 weddings a year.

Lavin’s offer a huge range of stock, from formal to casual and sportswear under the one roof. Prices are keen, competitiv­e and won’t be beaten. The business serves a loyal customer base in Sligo but is also expanding in the surroundin­g Counties of Leitrim, Roscommon and Mayo. John and his staff have seen a steady increase in business over the last few years. In 2007 they extended the premises by adding on a new suit department designed by Irish Times Design Shopfit- ters. They run an attractive suit deal throughout the year which draws a huge range of customers from all over the North West for occasions such as weddings graduation­s and Debs.

In 2016, Lavins Outfitters won the coveted Best Retail Premises in Sligo Award in the Sligo Champion Business Awards.

John and his staff are proud to celebrate their 60 th Anniversar­y with a special sale details of which you will find on page 21 of this paper.

Shane Currid is a native of Ballymote and was delighted in 2007 to move back to his home town and open his own pharmacy there.
