Over 200 adventurers enjoy summer reading at community library
Ballymote Community Library is a hub of activity throughout the summer months.
The Summer Stars Reading Adventure is an extremely popular event at the library.
During July and August each child receives a card that they get stamped and receive prizes over the summer when they have read books.
This year there are swimming hats, bracelets, magnets, bookmarks, pencils and more being given away to children who are taking part.
There are 220 summer ad- venturers signed up already. Every Friday at 3pm during the summer there will be storytelling and craft - last week’s edition attracted a huge crowd.
At the end of the summer there will have a prize giving ceremony with medals and certificates to celebrate the readers’ achievements.
This week the library in Ballymote also hosted a coding session and an introduction to board games with Wayne O’Connor.
This is in addition to the weekly craft group which meets at 3 – 5pm every Tuesday, Documentary Club who meet between 5pm to 7pm, Parent and Toddler group (older siblings welcome during the summer holidays) from 11 – 12pm every Thursday and the Saturday Stitchers group who come together from 11am to 1pm every Saturday morning.
People can sign up to the library’s newsletter email by emailing ballymotelibrary@sligococo.ie or follow them on Facebook (Ballymote Community Library) to keep up to date with new events.
