CHURCH SACRISTAN

The parish of Carraroe is looking for a new sacristan to take on the job in our Church. The cleaning of the church has been contracted and is not required as part of the role – further informatio­n from Fr Jim Murray at the Presbytery or Telephone 071 9162136.

AED/DEFIB AT COMMUNITY CENTRE

Please note the box holder opening mechanism is not operating properly and has to be sent for repair. The AED/Defib at Community Field is available with same code to open.

NEW LITTER WARDEN

CADRA welcomes the new Litter Warden appointed by Sligo County Council and look forward to working closely with him over the years. We ask all residents to assist him in his efforts to stop illegal dumping from our community.

CELEBRATIO­NS AT THE HOLY WELL, JULY 29 AND 30

Theme: Healing through Reconcilia­tion Saturday, July 29. 7 p.m. Confession at the Holy Well. 7.30 p.m. Evening Mass – Jesus our Healer Sunday, July 30. 6.00 a.m. Dawn Mass – Camino Walk from St Anne’s 10 a.m. Morning Mass – Baptism – Our Call to Jesus. Midday Mass with Prayers for Healing and Anointing of the Sick Please Note: On this weekend all Masses will take place at the Holy Well. No Mass in the church.

An organised walk from St Anne’s will begin at 4.45 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, to arrive at the Holy Well at 6 a.m. Please support.

One-way traffic system will be in operation again this year with entry to Holywell via bog road and exit at Lakeview School-further informatio­n from the parish office at 071 9162136.

CADRA TIDY TOWNS

The adjudicati­on process for Tidy Towns has commenced and will continue till end July. We ask all our regular weekly litter pickers to please assist as usual with a regular weekly pick on your road. All litter picked in clear bags can be left at collection point at Community Centre on Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Residents and businesses are requested to make a special effort to clean in front of their property in coming weeks. CADRA will supply bags, gloves; hi-viz jacket and picker to any new volunteers just contact any committee member.

AWARE – SLIGO SUPPORT GROUP

SLIGO SOCIAL SERVICES

Sligo Social Services has a shortage of good quality bric-abrac and household linens to sell in their Thrift Shop on Harmony Hill. If you are having a clear out and have items to donate then we would be very grateful to receive them. They can be dropped at our yard on the Lungy. Unfortunat­ely we cannot accept duvets, pillows, toys or electrical items. Thank you for your support. All shop profits go towards delivering vital services in the local community, for example meals on wheels, homeless accommodat­ion, child and family support and counsellin­g, informatio­n and advocacy.

MURAL AT COMMUNITY CENTRE

Nik Purdy has commenced painting a mural of the Holywell at Carraroe Community Centre. The community is looking forward to the finished product.

ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

The lotto is now €10,800. The lotto can be purchased in Canning’s House and garden, Molly Fulton’s Restaurant, Crozon Inn Crozon, Blue Lagoon Riverside, McMorrow’s Shop Cairns Road, Clifford Electrical Carraroe or any club member.

CIGARETTE ENDS CAUSE LITTER

CADRA is appealing to people not to dump cigarette end from cars on to our roads. This activity leaves a piece of white filter paper on our roads causing unpleasant litter. Remember ‘Be Green Keep Carraroe Clean’ is our campaign slogan. Your assistance and cooperatio­n will be appreciate­d.

VISIT TO CARNS CAIRNS HILL SLIGO

An organised trip will take place to the cairns on Cairns Hill on Tuesday, August 22, meeting at water works Tonaphubbl­e at 9.45 a.m. The event will be led by Stefan Bergh.
