New Aughris action group has a clean-up

-

TEMPLEBOY Aughris Rural Action (TARA) was out and about on Monday evening last week cleaning up Tra Bhuí beach, Aughris Pier and beach and surrounding roads.

A group of over 40 volunteers including members of Dromore West Tidy towns joined forces and tackled the rubbish and litter in the surrounding areas.

“The clean-up is a chance for residents to show their pride in their community by working together.

“We are very proud of our parish and we consider ourselves very lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

“Wouldn’t it be great going forward, if Templeboy/Aughris could achieve litter free status?” asked Ray Lynch, chairperson of TARA .

He added: “The clean-up is also an opportunity to meet up with and have a chat with our neighbours.

“TARA was set up this year, with the aim of improving and developing the amenities of the area for both locals and tourists alike.

“Our main objective is to enhance what we already have, primarily for the benefit of the local residents, but also to leave tourists with a positive and lasting impression of our area.

“The Wild Atlantic Way has opened a door of opportunity for Templeboy/ Aughris, however we as a community need to put in the effort to capitalise on this wonderful initiative for the benefit of all.”
