Council anxious for footbridge in Coolaney estate to proceed

DIRECTOR of Services Dorothy Clarke said the Council was anxious to proceed as quickly as they could with regard to the creation of a footbridge at Gort Na Si, Coolaney which was part of the original planning permission.

Ms Clarke explained that the developer of the estate was no longer involved but there was money in place from the bond and this would be used for build the footbridge linking the estate and the Mill Centre.

The Council’s own road design department would be assisting but she expected that an outside contractor would do thw rok.

She was replying to Councillor­s Michael Clarke and Dara Mulvey on outstandin­g issues at the 54 house estate.

Ms Clarke said that if there was any funding left over it would be used for traffic calming at Gort na Si.

She told Cllr Clarke and both Gort N Si and another estate in Enniscrone, The Meadows were in good condition and the taking in charge process could begin soon. She said there were only minor works outstandin­g at The Meadows and this was welcomed by Cllr Joe Queenan.
