Funding for eight new housing units

-

Ballymote is set to receive over €1.7 million in funding for eight new housing units Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin has said.

Deputy McLoughlin said: “These new high-spec housing units are going to be built in Cuan Iosa, close to the historic Ballymote castle.

“The funding has been made available through the capital Assistance Scheme. Under this scheme Approved Voluntary Bodies, in this case the Society of St Vincent de Paul, provide accommodation, generally one or two bed roomed units, to meet special housing needs such as those of the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged in the area.

“I am very pleased that this funding has been made available to enable the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul to carry out their vital work in Ballymote.

I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work in getting this project off the ground.

“The overall aim of Rebuilding Ireland – The Governments Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness is to more than double current levels of housing output to at least 25,000 new homes per annum by 2021 to meet current and forecast demand and is supported by a budget of €5.5bn,” said the Sligo TD.
