Somers is 15th in Fingal 10k

NEARLY 4,000 runners and joggers participat­ed in the Fingal 10k Road Race which is part of the Dublin Marathon Series.

As always , a group of Sligo AC were up bright and early for the 10am start. The race was won by Metro St Bridget’s Peter Coughlan in 30:38 with Raheny AC’s Freddie Sittuk 2nd in 30:46.

First Sligo AC runner home was Seamus Somers who finished 15th overall in 33:21 earning him the 2nd M40 prize. David Kearins was 54th overall and 2nd M45 in 36:09, a 1 second PB. Gerry Gilmartin went under the magic sub 40 for the first time with a PB of 39:45.

Stephen Gilgan is another runner improving with every race and he finished in 42:34, a new PB by 1:20. Joe Davey had a good run with a time of 42:56, just 8 seconds outside his PB. Noirin Kelly ran a great PB of 48:52 while Fiounnula Silke finished in a good 52:46. Sandra Lang (Corran AC ) also made the trip worthwhile with a PB of 46:07
