SHARON’S FUN RUN / WALK:

The gods were definitely smiling on those who paid tribute to the memory of Sharon Loughlin last Sunday evening. A rare but genuine summer’s day, with blue sky and warm sunshine, enabled the assembled crowd, numbering just over 300, to celebrate her memory and participate in what was a truely festive, social occasion. While simultaneously raising funds for a good cause, most involved walked about ‘The Manor’, uphill and down dale, taking in the sights and enjoying the fresh air.

Those of a more athletic persuasion exerted themselves in the pursuit of either a 5K or an 8K Fun Run. Although these were not officially timed events, it is worth noting that first across the line in the 5K was Kenneth Kennedy; followed closely by his ten year old twin sons, Declan and Patrick. In fourth place was Enda Fowley, keeping up his tradition of being in the first five; followed closely by nine year old Lucas Lyons. In the 8K Donnacha Dev- aney finished first; followed by Francis Byrne second; Brian McMorrow third; Mark McGourty fourth and Paul McDermott fifth. The monies raised have yet to be finally totalled, but all details will be published in due course. At this stage all that needs to be said is a sincere ‘’Thank You’’ to all who supported the venture in any way whatsoever.
