Girls charged with stealing
Two teenage girls aged 16 and 17 years have appeared in court charged with robbing handbags at a city nightclub on St Patrick’s night last year.
One of the girls, neither of whom can be named for legal reasons, elected to go before a judge and jury at the Circuit Criminal Court.
The judge remanded the 17-yearold on bail to 5th October for DPP’s directions.
Ms Laura Spellman told Judge Kilrane that her client, the 16-year-old, had been offered an adult caution but requested to view the CCTV footage.
This now meant the option of an adult caution was no longer open to her due to a time delay.
The girls are accused of stealing a black purse at 5th on Teeling on March 18th March 2016 containing a visa debit card, Boots loyalty card, Yeats Village campus keycard, Sligo IT Student ID, Student coffee card and ¤50 belonging to Ms Ruth Kavanagh.
They’re also accused of stealing a black handbag belonging to Ms Lisa Flannery, containing a white iphone 5C, house keys, Ford Focus key, flat shoes, cream floral purse, ¤20 cash, total value of ¤580, from the nightclub the same night.
Judge Kilrane adjourned both cases to next October.
