Mum escapes driving ban

A 30-year-old mother-of-five has been fined ¤400 for driving without insurance two years ago.

Deborah Laing of Millview, Dromore West, pleaded guilty to the offence while driving to Limerick at Bally Na Banouge, Croom on 7th July 2015.

The court heard she has two previous convictions for Road Traffic offences (including for no insurance) in 2009 and 2012.

Defence solicitor Mr Eddie Henry told Judge Kilrane that Laing was pleading guilty to the offence because she thought she was covered on her mother’s insurance policy that day.

Her mother testified that she didn’t
