The Sligo Champion was the first to bring you news of popular artist Kieran Quinn’s next big ambitious project.

Our reporter Jessica Farry revealed how following the artist’s short residency at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Kieran Quinn will release a new album this November 2017.

The good news is the public won’t have to wait until then as Sligo singer Kieran will perform and release a new original song each month for the next 6 months!

The first single ‘Our Place’ stars two local talents Tabby Callaghan and Marie Conway.

The pair are two of Ireland’s most recognised and loved vocalists and were delighted to perform on the catchy feel-good duet.

The video was filmed on a glorious summer’s evening with Knox Street Kitchen in beautiful Rosses Point Beach.

“I don’t want to be some other place, this is our place” Tabby Callaghan sings to Marie Conway over soaring saxophones and an irresistible beat on the single that is instantly appealing and memorable.

Kieran says: “The lyrics certainly matched the mood of the crowds that gathered to watch the video shoot a hot July evening in Sligo.

“The single shows off the wealth of local talent behind the scenes too. It was recorded by Ray Duffy in the Hawk’s Well Theatre, by Tabby Callaghan in ‘ Tabby Road’, by Steve Kohlmann, and by Luke Devaney in the Blue Room Recording Studio.”

The feel good factor extends beyond the music as all the proceeds of the project will go towards the Hawk’s Well Theatre’s €1.1 m Renovation plans - creating a world-class theatre for the people of the North West.

Kieran was determined to get behind this excellent local cause as he explains: “It’s a worthy cause. This will be a huge addition to our community. The Hawk’s Well is making efforts to reach out to all areas of the community. So this idea struck me a few weeks ago and it enables me to release my songs while at the same time raising money for a worthy cause.”

The single ‘Our Place’ was released yesterday, (Monday) 31st July.

Fittingly Sligo’s local radio station Ocean FM had the first national radio play for the track.

Kieran says: “Our Place is now available to buy from itunes, spotify and kieranquinn.ie.”

Once the video is seen it is easy to see that our place, our Sligo has never looked or sounded so good!

Deirdre Melvin, Spokeswoman for the Hawk’s Well Theatre says: “We are thrilled that Kieran has decided to get on board with his ambitious project and donate proceeds to the Hawk’s Well Theatre Renovation Fund. It is fitting that such a great local artist who has performed here many times is willing to help in this way.”
