The Sligo Champion

Stellar line-up for Sligo summer festival to take place this month

-

The Blizzards, Aslan and Kieran Quinn & Guests are set to headline Sligo Summer Festival 2017.

The musicians will play Stephen Street Car Park in Sligo town centre over three nights in August. Organiser Brendan Tierney said: “What makes this event even more appealing is that it is only €3 admission each night and children under 12 go free. The Sligo Summer Festival has been pulling crowds from all over the country for five years now and it’s set to wedge the car park once again.”

National headliners The Blizzards bring their energetic set of old and new hits to the stage. Fans can look forward to the classic favourites such as Fantasy, Trust Me I’m a Doctor and also enjoy the current radio favourite, ‘Show me the Science’. Led by powerhouse Bressie The Blizzards bring a show not to be missed.

Brendan continued: “Aslan will have the car park in full chorus on the Saturday with the classics, ‘Crazy World’ and ‘ This Is’ belting out in full force! One of the longest running Irish acts and a favourite across the ages, this will be an emotional journey for fans who have lived through the topsy turvy journey the band has endured. This is sure to be one of the most memorable gigs Sligo has ever seen.”

The first night of the festival will see local music Kieran Quinn bring a host of his friends together for a night of Bowie and Prince hits. Last year, he also opened the festival and it was the talk of the town for weeks after.

Festival Chairman Brian O’Sullivan said: “We are really excited about this year’s event. It’s a real mix of Irish anthems, plus Kieran never disappoints. The festival has attracted thousands of people since its inaugural year and this year promises to be no different.”

The festival runs for three nights from Thursday August 10 th to Saturday 12 th and overlaps with Sligo Races two day August meeting (August 9 & 10 th).

All in all it promises to be a massive four days of celebration for Sligo.
