Tubbercurry representing Sligo in Pride of Place awards again
Tubbercurry has been selected to represent Sligo in the National Pride of Place awards.
The south sligo town will be entered in the category of Creative Place.
Geraldine Brennan, President of the Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce said:
“Tubbercurry is delighted to be given the opportunity to showcase the long term dedication and ongoing commitment of our voluntary groups to culture and creativity in all of its forms. The fact that Tubbercurry is representing Co. Sligo for a second successive year is testament to the growth of community activism within the town.”
Enniscrone has been selected to represent County Sligo in the population category 1,000 -2,000. In this context Joe Queenan, Chair of Enniscrone Events Committee, said: “Enniscrone is delighted to be involved in Pride of Place this year, it affords the entire community a chance to showcase the wide range of activities and events that make Enniscrone such a vibrant destination”.
Sligo County Council is delighted to be associated with the Pride of Place Competition again this year. “The competition gives the Council the chance to get out into the com- munity, to liaise with groups, in order to gain a better understanding of what they do. We would just like to put on record our gratitude to Enniscrone and Tubbercurry for their support and wish them well on the judging day” said Ray O’Grady of Sligo County Council.
Judging for the national Pride of Place Competition takes place on Tuesday the 8th of August from 9.00 am – 1.00 pm in Enniscrone and 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm in Tubbercurry. All are welcome to attend the events on the day.
The Pride of Place competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities.
