THE LATE PEGGY SCANLON

It was with sadness that the community learned of the death of Peggy Scanlon. Peg who was 93 lived all her life in Ranaghan where she reared her family and worked on the family farm and till recently was a regular at Sunday mass in Ballinacar­row.

She is predecease­d by her husband Ned. Sympathy is extended to her children, Geraldine, Ignatius, Dympna, Cora, Concepta, Eamon, Peter and Maureen, sons and daughters-in-law and her many grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. May she rest in peace.

ACCESS BUS

The Access Bus runs every Wednesday from Tubbercurr­y to Sligo via Ballinacar­row and Coolaney. To book your seat please contact Eileen at 071 9185614. This is a free service to anybody with a travel pass. It arrives in Tesco car park at approx. 11 a.m. and departs at 1 p.m.

CEMETERY MASSES

The annual mass in Kilvarnet Cemetery will take place on Wednesday, August 2, at 8 p.m. The annual cemetery mass will take place in Collooney cemetery will take place on Friday, August 4, at 8 p.m.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the Eric Hodgins and family, Rathbaun, on the recent sudden death of his mother Kathleen. May she rest in peace.

OWENMORE GAELS

Owenmore Gaels would like to express sympathy to club members Niall Hodgins, Lorraine and Louise Craig on the recent death of their grandmothe­r Kathleen Hodgins, Collooney and also to her daughter Annette, who coached underage players for many years with the club. May she rest in peace.

Congratula­tions to Owenmore Gaels Minor Boys’ team who won the ‘A’ Shield Final on Thursday last with a hard fought game against Tubbercurr­y/Cloonacool on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-6. This is the first piece of silverware for a Minor A team in decades with Stephen Fallon receiving ‘Man of the Match’. Well done to the management and team and hopefully there are many more trophies to come.
