DVD OF WALK
A DVD of a walk from Ballina to Tubbercurry in May 1997 retracing the route taken by the famous racehorse, Ballyara Lad, transporting grain from Ballina to Tubbercurry during the Great Famine, is now available in the following outlets: Gillespies, Surlis’ SuperValu, Murphy’s Spar, K & B Hardware, Killoran’s Restaurant, Daybreak and Barry’s Pharmacy.
The DVD also includes a re-enactment of an eviction scene at Lough Talt by members of the Phoenix Players. All Proceeds are in aid of the Concern Famine in East Africa Relief Appeal.
OLD PHOTOGRAPHS
To celebrate Heritage Week, Moylough Arts and Heritage will organise an exhibiton of photographs dating from 1908 to present day. Mr Brian Cahill will launch the exhibition on Saturday, August 19, at 7 p.m., which will include memorabilia of local historical interest and continue on Sunday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This event is supported by a grant from Sligo Co. Co. Community and Voluntary grants scheme. Admission is free. Old photographs are required and will be returned safely to the owners afterwards. More info: 087 6702903.
