HSE denies chapel is closing

The HSE has denied there are any plans to close Nazareth House Chapel and have it deconsecrated. In a statement to The Sligo Champion, the HSE said the reference to it shutting in a recent planning application was “an assumption” by a Traffic Consultant only.

It has insisted that although the chapel is within a 99 year lease between the Sisters of Nazareth and the HSE, it is not within the HSE planning permission and any decisions with regard to the use of the Church is “solely a decision for the Sisters of Nazareth.”
