Family fun day at Doorly park
ENJOYING THE FAMILY FUN DAY AT THE LOUGH GILL HOSPICE SWIM
THE sun shone brightly as hundreds of people gathered at Doorly Park last Saturday for the Family Fun Day run as part of the annual Lough Gill Hospice Swim.
Popular DJ Scruffy Duffy was on hand to MC for the day as he welcomed home the marathon swimmers who had taken part in a 10k challenge across Lough Gill. The atmosphere was electric with families enjoying a range of activities from face-painting to bouncing castles.
There was even a pet farm with a variety of farm animals including Connemara ponies, lambs and chickens!
A relay and mile swim event took place at noon while the first of the marathon swimmers were home before 3.
Organisers of the Lough Gill Swim run in memory of the late Neill McGarry to rasie funds for the North West Hospice say they were thrilled with the turn out and commended everyone for taking the time out to support such a worthy cause. It has been one of the most successful years to date, they said.
