Another new housing development gets go ahead for Strandhill

-

A new development of 17 homes has secured planning permission in Strandhill.

RPC Construction, whose current directors include Peter Gilleece, Teresa Gilleece, Colm Gilleece and Paul Gilleece of Circular Road, was given the green light for the development at Carrowbunnaun last Tuesday 15th August.

The site off the Top Road was previously granted permission at the height of the boom in 2006 for 14 apartments and a creche.

They were never built. This latest project will replace that original plan with 11 houses ( two blocks of four terraced houses and one block of three terraced houses) and one block of six 2- bed apartments.

Neighbour John Graham had objected to the plans, which were submitted in November 2016.

Mr Graham said that if more houses were to be proposed, then something would have to be done to take into consideration the safety of those living in the area, including an increasing number of children.

He requested that traffic calming measures be introduced before more new buildings were approved.

He also said the sewage system in Strandhill didn’t have capacity for more houses.

County planners granted permission for the project subject to several conditions.
