THE Hawk’s Well Theatre’s new brochure for Sept- Dec 2017 is out now and available to pick up throughout the Sligo region and can be downloaded online from the theatre’s website.

As well as a wonderful line up of performanc­es over the coming season, the theatre continues with some of its popular programmes and events such as Sligo Sings; a celebratio­n of the joy of singing together, featuring brand new choirs alongside existing ones.

The team at the theatre will also launch an exciting new project, Sligo Acts, a drama initiative with an introducto­ry workshop in November. This programme is for all levels of acting ability and experience, taking place in Spring 2018. The theatre’s popular ‘ Sing for the hell of it’ evenings return with two sing- a- long socials planned this season.

As part of September’s Culture Night, the theatre will be hosting a number of free events for all the family and there is a wonderful line up for children at Halloween.

Theatrical highlights include a new production from CallBack Theatre - Janey Dillis: Queen of the Wild Interior; Wuthering Heights by Hotbuckle Production­s, Lady Windermere’s Fan by Theatrical Niche, Mary and Me by Patrick Talbot, Theatre Lovett’s They Called Her Vivaldi, the return of the popular Faulty Towers: The Dining Experience and the highly acclaimed Star of the Sea by Moonfish.

Local theatrical production­s include Sligo Drama Circle’s Present Laughter in November and the return of Beezneez with Turning Mammy while Coolera Dramatic Society’s annual panto is Babes in the Wood this year. Man in the Moon Production­s present Shaun Purcell’s musical The Raven Beckons with show profits going to the Hawk’s Well Renovation Fund.

A wonderful line up of music of all types includes the Guitar World series of events, this time featuring Don Alder, Felip Carbonell & Mike Nielsen; Omagh’s own Donna Taggart; the incomparab­le Earl Okin; a solo gig with Seamie O’Dowd; two of the most respected voices in traditiona­l folksong, Eliza Carthy & Tim Eriksen; one of the world’s finest acoustic guitarists, Andy McKee; Duke Special; Aonghus McAnally’s The Christie Hennessy Story, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, Sligo bands Indian and Moxie, a night with Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden & Seamie O’Dowd, The Count, The Countess & the Tommy – featuring the music of John McCormack; Fred Finn 30th anniversar­y concert and Declan O’Rourke’s ‘ Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine’ and plenty more!

As part of the theatre’s short residence programme Kieran Quinn presents two nights of music with ‘ Our Place’ - six songs for Sligo, a new collection or original songs composed by Kieran Quinn. Oisin Mac Diarmada will present a Sligo Fiddle Ensemble in November and will run fiddle workshops as part of his short residency at the theatre.

Workshops for adults include a creative writing workshop with Jane Clarke, Acting for Adults with Jean- Marie Perinetti, Sligo Fiddle Workshops with Oisin MacDiarmad­a, a Carlo Gébler writing workshop, Sing for the hell of it: and a new workshop for profession­al actors with actor Mikel Murfi.

For children, the popular Drama at the Well, Toddler Drama and SingSkool Mini classes courses begin again in the Autumn.

Comedy fans will have many choices in events also, with Bernard O’Shea & Karl Spain’s new show, Fat Chancers; Ruby Wax; and the return to the theatre of comedy favourites Jason Byrne, David O’Doherty and Reginald D Hunter.
