The Sligo Champion

Match in memory of Paddy

-

HUNDREDS of people were in the Showgrounds on Saturday for the Paddy McCarrick fundraising match in aid of the RNLI.

Much- loved Paddy, from Garavogue Villas, died two months ago after a kayaking accident and his family, wife Phil, daughter Lisa and son Thomas along with their extended family and Paddy’s friends decided to organise a fundraising football match to give something back to the RNLI.

The match was a big success and saw a team from the Blue Lagoon take on the Sligo University.

It was the Blue Lagoon who came away with a 2- 1 win after an exciting match with both sides bringing a large crowd of support.

Paddy’s daughter Lisa said they were so grateful to everyone who came to support the match. “What can I say... such a brilliant day/ night. It was just fantastic from start to finish.

“Thanks to everyone who came out and donated. It means so much to us to know how well thought of and loved dad was.

“Thanks so much to the boys in the Blue Lagoon and all the hard work they put in.

“And to Darren Hurd and all the Sligo University team for such a brilliant game.

“Until next year.”
